Central Spiral Staircase Design by Manuel Maia Gomes

This home from your 19th-Century poet, converted to somewhat of a modern literary center, was built to attribute volumes by famous writers from around Portugal.

The original composition was required to become gutted, leaving only the exterior walls as well as the amenable query of how to proceed with all the inside.

Designed by Manuel Maia Gomes (images by Fernando Guerra), the newest wooden steps compliment the exposed threshold beams and rafters, connecting visually up from your two stories the staircase spans.

Back-lit light shelves illuminate this navigational core, and provide a basic backdrop for that a large number of ebooks that they are establish on them at each level, all lifting away from a light-touch landing on an open white-walled first floor.
