Dodai Benches Furniture Design by Peter Marigold


Designer Peter Marigold has produced the Dodai benches, developed from Igusa (a kind of woven grass) and Hiba (wooden at a Japanese cypress).

These benches was made to the exhibition Simple Vision coordinated by Japan Creative. They were being realized with the respected Japanese pieces of furniture organization Hinoki Kogei adhering to visits for their manufacturing unit in Japan.


The benches are made in a log separated out into two items. On major of this can be installed a covering created from woven grass (igusa) and wooden rods. This might be rolled again so concerning make use of the inside living area for safe-keeping. It is used constantly in spot with coloured bungees stretched around dim hardwood turned knobs. The wood applied is ‘hiba’ a form of Japanese Cypress. Both the igusa and hiba have wonderful healthy odours.

‘Dodai’ implies ‘base’ in Japanese plus the benches loosely benchmark architectural beams laid about the foundations of residences.
